Over 25,000 participants took part in the event where Chelimo disposed of his challengers with two kilometers to go to take home the men's top honor in 2:10:22. Wilfred Kirwa led the challengers home 29 seconds behind, ahead of Felix Kangogo, who rounded off the podium in 2:11:10. In the women's race, Chepkech broke the tape in 2:27:04 after surging away from her competitors from the 40km mark in the event staged on a looped course in the southern part of the Kenyan capital.
