Guizhou Bridges - China

This aerial panoramic drone photo taken on Sept. 5, 2025 shows the Daxiaojing Grand Bridge in southwest China's Guizhou Province. Guizhou, the only province in China without a single plain and home to deep ravines, has long relied on tunnels and bridges to overcome its jagged karst landscape. Since 2012, the province has accelerated its bridge construction endeavors. Guizhou now has over 32,000 bridges either already built or under construction -- a tenfold increase compared to the 1980s. Due to its sheer number of bridges, diverse bridge types and complex construction technologies, Guizhou has earned the title of "the world's bridge museum." Photo by Ou Dongqu /Xinhua/ABACAPRESS.COM

Behind The Scenes Of The Vatican

New recruit of the Swiss Guards tries his uniform on with two dressmakers on May 6, 2016 at the Vatican. The pompous title 'defenders of the freedom of the Church' qualifies the Swiss Guards, of which there are one hundred. These soldiers are not nearly as picturesque as their uniforms, which are said to have been designed by either Raphael or Michaelangelo, but whose design was actually produced at the turn of the last century. It is not a simple procedure to become a member of the Guard, which is one of the world's oldest military factions. One must have Swiss nationality, be of the Catholic faith, measure over 1.74 meters in height, and be less than 25 years of age when signing on for the first time. In this photo: Informing the public from CHP Headquarters, Imamoglu said, “These works are just details that show the desperation of those who see their own interests, their own seat, their own power above the interests of the nation. We do not see the steps taken against our municipalities and the will of the nation as isolated cases, disconnected from each other. Our nation should not see it this way either.
