The numbers are a vast improvement over the 491,000 tourists who visited Spain in March 2021 and spent just 544 million euros, but still below the 5.6 million people who visited Spain in March 2019, prior to the COVID-19 pandemic, when they brought income of 6,035 million euros. The increasing number of foreign tourists visiting Spain, which comes in the context of the ongoing crisis in Ukraine and rising inflation, means that the country has now experienced 10 months of consecutive year-on-year improvements in visitor numbers and spending.
