Yagi, who had said ''I can't stand losing out to blacks,'' explained his remark was ''in no way meant to be a racial slur and in no way reflect my own views or the views of the JOC.'' Kenyan runner Erik Wainaina won the men's marathon, while Elfenesh Alemu of Ethiopia won the women's version of the Nagano Olympic memorial event.
