Typhoon Ampil (No. 7) developed into a powerful storm and approached the Kanto region, including Tokyo, on Friday, August 16. Japan Meteorological Agency issued warnings for violent winds and mudslides, as well as high tides, flooding, and swollen and overflowing rivers.
