SAMANI, Japan - A huge kite is pulled up April 27 in a big kite festival in Samani, near Cape Erimo on southern Hokkaido. The 250-kilogram kite was made by local kite enthusiasts in commemoration of the 50th anniversary of the founding of the municipality of Samani.
