Vartius border station

A wheel loader of the Finnish Defence Forces (FDF) heads to the border zone at the Vartius border station in Kuhmo, Eastern Finland, on November 19, 2023. The Defence Forces are providing assistance to the Border Guard to build a temporary barrier. Most asylum seekers are now arriving at the Vartius border crossing point which is the southernmost border station since Saturday when Finland closed four points further south on its eastern border.
