Hubble Seeks Clusters in Lost Galaxy

Through a small telescope, this galaxy appears extremely faint, giving it the nickname ‘Lost Galaxy’. With a mirror spanning nearly eight feet (2.4 meters) across and its location above Earth’s light-obscuring atmosphere, Hubble can easily observe dim galaxies like NGC 4535 and pick out features like its massive spiral arms and central bar of stars. This image features NGC 4535’s young star clusters, which dot the galaxy’s spiral arms. Glowing-pink clouds surround many of these bright-blue star groupings. Recap: Over 100 Killed in Devastating Central Texas Flood

More than 100 people have died due to catastrophic flooding in central Texas over the weekend, with the Guadalupe River rising over 26 feet in under an hour. The flooding destroyed homes and much of Camp Mystic, a girls' Christian summer camp. In Kerr County, the death toll has reached 84, including 28 children. Camp Mystic reported 27 deaths and 11 people still missing. Search and rescue efforts are ongoing but hampered by debris, heat, snakes, and continued rain. The Vatican's Swiss Guards swore in 32 new recruits on May 6, 2015 at the Vatican. The new recruits joined their ranks in an elaborate swearing-in ceremony . The ceremony is held each May 6 to commemorate the 147 Swiss Guards who died protecting Pope Clement VII during the 1527 Sack of Rome. Then each new recruit grasped the corps' flag and, raising three fingers in a symbol of the Holy Trinity, swore to uphold the Swiss Guard oath to protect pope Francis and his successors. The Swiss Guard, founded in 1506, consists of 100 volunteers who must be Swiss nationals, Catholic, single, at least 174 cm (5 feet 8 inches) tall and beardless.
