STORY: Manta ray-shaped bionic underwater vehicle used to monitor coral reef in S China DATELINE: July 29, 2023 LENGTH: 00:00:31 LOCATION: HAIKOU, China CATEGORY: TECHNOLOGY/ENVIRONMENT SHOTLIST: 1. various of the bionic underwater vehicle 2. various of the sea 3. various of the bionic underwater vehicle STORYLINE: A manta ray-shaped bionic underwater vehicle has recently been used to conduct a coral reef monitoring experiment in the surrounding waters of Fenjiezhou Island, south China's Hainan Province, proving that the vehicle is now ready for practical applications. The experiment was jointly conducted by Northwestern Polytechnical University (NWPU) and South China Agricultural University (SCAU). The vehicle's mobility and reliability have been tested in the experiment. Meanwhile, the data collected in the experiment can contribute to protecting coral reefs and the ocean environment.
