Out Of Control Wildfires Rage In Tenerife - Canary Islands

The forest fire, on August 17, 2023, in La Orotava, Tenerife, Canary Islands, Spain. The City Council of La Orotava has confirmed that the decision has been taken to evacuate as a preventive measure in view of the evolution of the fire the population center of Aguamansa, as well as Pinolere and the highlands of La Florida. Aguamansa is currently one of the most active points of the fire, which has already affected about 5,000 hectares. La Orotava is on alert because the outbreaks are close to the houses, and the change of wind that may occur tonight would worsen the situation and cause the flames to advance faster than in the afternoon, when the high amount of smoke has caused the flames to advance very slowly.
