Opposition submits cabinet no-confidence motion

SDP's Tsujimoto tenders resignation at lower house

TOKYO, Japan - Kiyomi Tsujimoto (L), an opposition Social Democratic Party (SDP) lawmaker, tenders her resignation from parliament to Fukumaru Tani, secretary general of the House of Representatives on March 26. Tsujimoto resigned in a scandal over use of her secretary's state-paid salary.

TOKYO, March 12 Kyodo - Representatives of four opposition parties submit a nonbinding resolution to Fukumaru Tani, secretary general of the House of Representatives on March 12 demanding scandal-hit Muneo Suzuki of the governing Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) resign as a lower house member.

Opposition submits no-confidence motion against Takebe

TOKYO, Japan - Representatives of opposition parties (L side) submit a no-confidence motion to the House of Representatives on Feb. 4 against farm minister Tsutomu Takebe over his handling of the outbreak of mad cow disease in Japan. They presented the motion to Fukumaru Tani (R), secretary general of the lower house. The Democratic Party of Japan, the Liberal Party, the Japanese Communist Party and the Social Democratic Party agreed on the motion.

TOKYO, Japan - Representatives of four opposition parties submit a resolution April 27 demanding the resignation from the Diet of former Construction Minister Kishiro Nakamura following a court ruling upholding his conviction for bribetaking. The resolution was presented to Fukumaru Tani (R), secretary general of the House of Representatives.

TOKYO, Japan - Representatives of four opposition parties hand a no-confidence motion against the cabinet of Prime Minister Yoshiro Mori on March 5 to Fukumaru Tani (R), secretary general of the House of Representatives secretariat. A vote on the motion will be held at a House of Representatives plenary session later in the day.

Resolution submitted against budget committee chief

TOKYO, Japan - Representatives of four main opposition parties (L) hand a resolution calling for the dismissal of the chairman of the House of Representatives Budget Committee to Fukumaru Tani (R), secretary general of the House of Representatives secretariat, on Feb. 21. The resolution was submitted over the manner in which Hosei Norota has run committee sessions as well as for his remarks over the weekend justifying Japan's wartime aggression.
