Guadalajara Celebrates The Alto Tajo Crocheters' Festival - Spain

The Fiesta Ganchera, or Fiesta de los Gancheros, is a cultural event held the last weekend of August that recalls the ancient activity of the "maderadas", which consisted of transporting and directing along the course of the river the pine trunks felled in the upper reaches of the Tagus to the Madrid town of Aranjuez, where they were used to build the various royal residences in the time of Philip II.
