Japanese painter Takayama dies at 95

TOKYO, Japan - Award-winning Japanese painter Tatsuo Takayama (file photo) died of pneumonia at his home in Tokyo on Sept. 14, his family said. He was 95. Inspired by the life of Paul Gauguin, Takayama painted his breakthrough work ''Yokushitsu'' (bathroom) in 1946, for which he won a special commendation in the Japan Fine Arts Exhibition, or Nitten.

MANILA, Philippines - Photo taken during a Feb. 2, 2013, interview with Imelda Marcos, the widow of the late Philippine President Ferdinand Marcos who ruled the country from 1965 up to 1986, shows paintings by well-known artists on the walls of her condominium unit in the Makati financial district of Manila. On Sept. 30, 2014, government law enforcers raided the known residential and office addresses of Imelda Marcos to implement an anti-graft court order for the seizure of eight paintings by artists including Michelangelo, Picasso and Gauguin.
