Germany: Pro-Israel Community Gathers at Brandenburg Gate on Hanukkah Following Sydney Attack 2

Following a reported terror attack on Sunday, December 14, at a Hanukkah celebration at Sydney's Bondi Beach, security has been heightened for upcoming Hanukkah events in Germany. Despite the heightened alert, a public candle lighting for the first night of Hanukkah was held today at Berlin's Brandenburg Gate, an event that was attended by German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier.

At least two people are dead and dozens injured after a car rammed into a crowd at a Christmas market in Magdeburg, eastern Germany, on Friday night, December 20. One of the victims was a toddler, Saxony-Anhalt state Premier Rainer Haseloff said.
