Award-winning Japanese police dog to retire

Geruman, a 10-year-old police dog known as the first canine in Japan to be given the Award of the Commissioner-General of the National Police Agency for his contributions to solving crimes, is pictured Jan. 24, 2017 in Osaka with Takato Muguruma, a sergeant in Osaka prefectural police's identification unit. The German Shepherd's keen sense of smell led to the arrest of a man who kidnapped a young girl in 2013. Geruman is due to retire by the end of March and will go and live with a retired police officer. (Kyodo) ==Kyodo
