Vodaphone's Morrow to head Japan Telecom

TOKYO, Japan - William Morrow (L), vice president of Vodaphone-Japan, and Haruo Murakami, the company's president, meet the press Nov. 28 in Tokyo to announce that Morrow will replace Murakami next month. Murakami will assume the post of chairman. Japan Telecom is owned 66.7% by British mobile phone giant Vodafone Group PLC.

Vodafone to acquire 15% stake in Japan Telecom

TOKYO, Japan - Haruo Murakami, president of Japan Telecom Co., meets reporters in Tokyo on Dec. 20 after British Telecom carrier Vodafone Group PLC said it will acquire a 15.01% stake in Japan Telecom. Vodafone will purchase Japan Telecom shares from West Japan Railway Co. (JR West) and Central Japan Railway Co. (JR Tokai) for 249.2 billion yen.
