Hiroshima A-bomb museum head Hataguchi to retire

HIROSHIMA, Japan - Minoru Hataguchi (file photo), head of the Hiroshima Peace Memorial Museum, will leave the museum April 1, the Hiroshima prefectural government said March 29. When the United States dropped the atomic bomb on Hiroshima during World War II, Hataguchi was exposed to radiation in his mother's womb.

HIROSHIMA, Japan - Shigeru Taniguchi (R) from Tokushima, southwestern Japan, becomes the 50 millionth visitor to the Hiroshima Peace Memorial Museum in Hiroshima. He was given souvenirs by museum director Minoru Hataguchi (L). The museum, opened in 1955, displays photos and objects related to the U.S. atomic bombing of Hiroshima in 1945.
