People, including a man (L) posing as Sir Topham Hatt, a fictional character in the British Railway Series books, cut the tape at Shinkanaya station in Shimada, Shizuoka Prefecture, central Japan, on June 22, 2019, to mark the operation of a steam locomotive modeled after Thomas the Tank Engine. The steam locomotive operated by Oigawa Railway travels 37.2 kilometers between the station and Senzu station in Kawanehonho town in the same prefecture through Dec. 1. (Kyodo) ==Kyodo
