RECAP: Knife Attack With Smoke Grenades Leaves Three Dead in Central Taipei

Three people were killed after a man carried out a knife attack using smoke grenades in central Taipei on Friday, December 19. The suspect reportedly threw smoke grenades inside Taipei Main Station and stabbed passersby. He then fled the scene, traveled to nearby Zhongshan Station, and attacked pedestrians again before entering a department store. The 27-year-old suspect later died after jumping from the department store.

A 27-year-old suspect was detained following smoke grenade and knife attacks near Taipei Main Station and Zhongshan MRT station on Friday evening, December 19. On November 24, 2025, in Qinghai, western China, a touching moment warmed the cold winter day. At an intersection, a traffic police officer noticed a tiny kitten trying to cross the zebra line. He slowed down the traffic and patiently waited as the kitten trotted behind him, safely making it to the other side. Only after confirming the kitten was out of danger did the officer signal the vehicles to proceed.
