UK: Snow Blankets Country as Arctic Air Arrives 6

Snow has arrived across much of the UK, from London to Scotland, on Wednesday, November 19, as Arctic air sweeps in. Londoners saw light flurries, while deeper snow covered areas including Yorkshire, County Durham, Northumberland, and the Lake District. The Met Office has issued multiple weather warnings: amber for heavy snow in parts of Yorkshire and yellow for snow and ice across Northern Ireland, Wales, northern and central England, and Scotland.

Heavy rainfall hit Hertfordshire on Sunday, September 22, with flooding reported across the region. The Met Office has issued an amber rain warning for western and northern Hertfordshire until 9 PM, along with a yellow warning for the rest of the county.

A fire broke out at the Nationwide Metal Centre plant in Cadwell Lane, Hitchin, Hertfordshire on Saturday, July 20. Thick, black smoke was billowing from the site prompting advice from fire authorities to residents nearby to keep doors and windows shut. The blaze in the scrapyard plant was the third time in past 8 months.
