TOKYO - Veteran actress Sachiko Hidari (file photo taken April 1999) died Thursday of cancer at the National Cancer Center in Tokyo, members of her family said. She was 71. Hidari received numerous awards both at home and abroad, including the Blue Ribbon Award for best actress and the Best Actress Award at the Berlin International Film Festival.

The only area along the Tokaido Highway where Mt. Fuji rises on the left, this spot was referred to as Hidari Fuji (Left Fuji). The Nemurineko (sleeping cat) is the most famous carving on the buildings of Nikko Toshogu.
