Ex-singer Keiko Fuji plunges to death in alleged suicide

TOKYO, Japan - Photo taken in September 1981 shows Keiko Fuji. Fuji, former singer and the mother of singer Hikaru Utada, on Aug. 22, 2013, plunged from a condominium building to her death in an apparent suicide, Tokyo police said. She was 62.

TOKYO, Japan - Popular Japanese singer-songwriter Hikaru Utada (file photo) has been hospitalized and will undergo a thorough medical examination possibly on May 7, her record company Toshiba EMI Ltd. said. Utada, 19, had been working under medical supervision after recovering from an operation to remove a benign tumor from her ovary, but her condition deteriorated a couple of days ago.
