Japanese director wins Cannes award

CANNES, France - Photo shows Japanese film director Atsuko Hirayanagi (L) and Japanese actress Kaori Momoi in Cannes, France, in May 2014. "Oh Lucy!," Hirayanagi's graduation movie from the Singapore branch of a New York school, featuring Momoi, was selected for the second prize in the Cinefondation student film division of the 2014 Cannes Film Festival on May 22, 2014. It was the first award given to a Japanese filmmaker in the category, first created in 1998.
