A lawyer for Samuragochi, dubbed a modern Beethoven by the media, said on Feb. 5, 2014, that the composer had someone else write his pieces for over 10 years, including "Hiroshima". Samuragochi is a Hiroshima native and the son of atomic bomb survivors.

Empress makes 1st public appearance since heart trouble

Original score of Finnish composer's symphony "Hiroshima" discovered

Photo taken on June 5, 2015, shows the original score of "Symphony No. 2 Hiroshima" composed by Erkki Aaltonen (1910-1990) of Finland about four years after the 1945 atomic bombing of the western Japanese city. Based on the score found a few years ago, the symphony will be played in Hiroshima in November and in Hiroshima and Nishinomiya neighboring Osaka in December. (Kyodo) ==Kyodo

Finnish composer's symphony "Hiroshima" to be played in city again

Yumi Notohara, leader of a civic group working for the preservation of music related to the 1945 atomic bombing of Hiroshima, talks about "Symphony No. 2 Hiroshima" composed by Erkki Aaltonen (1910-1990) of Finland about four years after the western Japanese city was hit. The symphony, first played in Hiroshima in 1955, will be performed there again on Nov. 16 by the Hiroshima Philharmonic Orchestra, followed by performances by the Osaka Philharmonic Orchestra twice in December-- in Nishinomiya neighboring Osaka on Dec. 5 and in Hiroshima on Dec. 6.
