TOKYO, Japan - Officials of the Tokyo District Public Prosecutors Office enter an apartment building in Tokyo's Shibuya Ward on Jan. 15 to search the home of Mitsuo Ozaki, a former secretary to a lawmaker in the House of Representatives who was among seven suspects arrested for allegedly obstructing a public works tender. Yoshishiro Kimura, the mayor of Ishioka in Ibaraki Prefecture is also among those arrested.

Hitachi Zosen unveils movable breakwater

On April 5, Hitachi Zosen Corporation unveiled to the press at its Sakai Works (Nishi-ku, Sakai City) a flap-gate sluiceto be installed on the seabed at Ofunato Fishing Port (Ofunato City, Iwate Prefecture). The sluice will be transported by sea from the Sakai Works to the site in mid-November, and construction is scheduled to be completed by the end of June 2008. Mr. Munekazu Shima, Managing Executive Officer of Hitachi Zosen Corporation and General Manager of the Social Infrastructure Business Division, said, "Projects for disaster response are moving forward in overseas countries.
