Electric locomotive for Hokutosei sleeper train

An electric locomotive for the Hokutosei limited express sleeper train connecting Tokyo and Sapporo in Hokkaido, northern Japan, is parked in Hakodate on Feb. 18, 2015. The locomotive, designed specifically for the Seikan Tunnel that links Aomori on the northern tip of Japan's main island Honshu with Hokkaido, hauls the train from Aomori to Hakodate, where it is replaced by a diesel locomotive for the remaining journey up to Sapporo.
