Homeporting ceremonies for the United States Navy’s newest and most technologically advanced aircraft carrier are scheduled for July 23, 2004, and will host various dignitaries, including Nancy Reagan, members of the Congress, state officials and various celebrities. Reagan is commanded by Captain James A. Symonds. While in transit, the ship visited the ports of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, Valparaiso, Chile, and Callao, Peru.
