16-yr-old becomes youngest female 'go' game title holder

TOKYO, Japan - Rina Fujisawa, a female player of the "go" Japanese board game, wins the women's "Honinbo" title in Tokyo on Nov. 7, 2014, by thrashing title holder Chiaki Mukai 3-0 in the best-of-five competition, becoming the youngest holder of the top honor at the age of 16 years and a month. Master of 'go' Sakata to retire

TOKYO, Japan - Eio Sakata, the 23rd Honinbo master of go, announces in Tokyo on Jan. 21 he will retire from championship races on Feb. 15, his 80th birthday, due to declining health. Sakata, 79, garnered a record 64 titles.
