TOKYO, Japan - Kyodo News appointed Toyohiko Yamanouchi as its new president Dec. 12 to replace Ichiro Saita. Yamanouchi, 62, has served as general manager since June 2000, and concurrently became acting president this October after Saita went on sick leave.

In an exclusive interview with Kyodo News President Ichiro Saita, Khai said Japan's ODA to Vietnam has made ''substantial'' contributions to Vietnam's development over the past several years.

TOKYO, Japan - Ichiro Saita, president of Kyodo News, breaks ground Oct. 24 in a ceremony marking the start of construction of the agency's new 34-story headquarters in the Shiodome area of Tokyo's Minato Ward. The building, Shiodome Media Tower, is being built on a 9,323 square-meter plot that was once part of the now-defunct Japanese National Railways Shiodome freight train station. The building is due for completion by June 2003.
