The country has been witnessing an unprecedented financial crisis amid a shortage of U.S. reserves and the collapse of the Lebanese pound. Lebanon's crisis plunged over 74 percent of the population into poverty with people barely capable of securing their basic needs. Ali Amhaz, a citizen buying his needs for a vegetable market in Beirut, told Xinhua that prices have skyrocketed and he feels sorry for the needy families who cannot afford to buy food products.
