One Dead and More than 5,000 People Evacuated as Fires Ravage Leon - Spain

Interregional truck Spain-Portugal, on August 13, 2025, in Herreros de Jamuz, León, Castilla y León (Spain). The forest fire affecting León and Zamora has resulted in the death of a volunteer who was assisting in the firefighting efforts, in addition to more than 10 injured. Some 5,400 people from 25 villages have been evacuated to protect lives, and strong winds have hampered firefighting efforts, causing the fire to spread rapidly.
