As we enter the plum season, we feature farmers in the Itoigawa region of Niigata Prefecture, which is plagued by landslides caused by torrential rains. Our heads droop as we look at the farmers who are working hard, undeterred by the fury of nature. The scars of 1961 linger in many places.
