Tanker stranded off Hokkaido

The tanker Sanwa Maru runs aground off Hakodate in the northernmost Japanese main island of Hokkaido on Jan. 8, 2025, with Japan Coast Guard officials confirming heavy oil is leaking due to suspected damage to a fuel tank. All 11 crew members are safe, according to the JSG.
