A brush fire erupted in the Del Mar Heights neighborhood in San Diego on Tuesday morning, June 25. The fire near Mira Montana Drive off Del Mar Heights Road prompted the mandatory evacuation of 2,500 residents from the area. The fire's forward progress was stopped by about 5:30 p.m. and all evacuation orders and warnings have been lifted by 7:20 p.m.

KAMAISHI, Japan - A disaster prevention center in the Unosumai district of Kamaishi, Iwate Prefecture, northeastern Japan, where many local residents died in the March 2011 tsunami after taking refuge there, is being torn down on Jan. 11, 2014. Bereaved family members frequented the facility to offer prayers at an alter set up inside, but the building's demolition was completed in February. A facility commemorating the victims is scheduled to be built at the site.
