Nissan Motor plans to boost output of CVT-equipped cars

AQUASCALIENTES, Mexico - Officials from Nissan Motor Co. and Jatco Ltd., Nissan's auto parts affiliate, cut the tape to open a continuously variable transmission (CVT) plant at Aguascalientes in central Mexico on Jan. 12. Nissan officials said the company is planning to install CTVs in most of its cars for sale in North America in a move to counter hybrid cars offered by its main rivals Toyota Motor Corp. and Honda Motor Co.
