UNESCO registers Shiretoko as natural heritage site

SHIRETOKO, Japan - Tourists at an observatory near the five Shiretoko lakes in Shari in Hokkaido view the scenery in this photo taken July 13, 2005. A UNESCO panel decided July 14 to admit the Shiretoko area as a natural heritage site.
