TOKYO, Japan - A landslide triggered by a fairly strong earthquake measuring 6 on the Richter scale blocks traffic on Kozu Island on July 9. The 3:57 a.m. quake's focus was estimated to be 10 km under the seabed in waters near the island, which is roughly 170 km south of Tokyo in the Izu chain of islands. The quake caused at least 10 landslides on the island, which has a population of 2,300, but there were no reports of casualties.
