A row of Japanese cedar trees along the Nikko Road

This is the mountain road to Takino'o Shinto Shrine following the course of Inari River from Kaizando, on the northeast side at Sannai area of Nikko. The road seems well groomed, not just the stone center, but the edges as well. There are many historical sites along the road, among them the tomb of Shodo Shonin, the founder of Mt. Nikko and Kitano Shinto Shrine.==Date:unknown, Place:Imaichi, Photo:Ogawa Kazumasa, (Credit:Nagasaki University Library/Kyodo News Images) [Cabinet Number67‐32‐0]

The middle of street was paved with stones, and the street leading to Teramachi was connected by stone steps, which was made into slope in after years.==Date:1864, Place:Nagasaki, Photo:F. Tera-machi is viewed from the street of Koji-machi. The tiered building in the center is the Kannon-do at Kofukuji Temple, built beside the former founder's hall in 1825. Felix Beato took a photograph from the same angle 1864, but this photograph was taken in the mid-Meiji Period with many rickshaws visible.==Date:unknown, Place:Nagasaki, Photo:unknown, (Credit:Nagasaki University Library/Kyodo News Images) [Cabinet Number109‐23‐0]
