Ex-singer Keiko Fuji plunges to death in alleged suicide

TOKYO, Japan - Photo taken in September 1981 shows Keiko Fuji. Fuji, former singer and the mother of singer Hikaru Utada, on Aug. 22, 2013, plunged from a condominium building to her death in an apparent suicide, Tokyo police said. She was 62.

Utada, born and raised in New York and the daughter of Japanese singer Keiko Fuji, broke Japan's album sales record with her debut album ''First Love.'' The album, released March 10, sold 5.24 million copies.
