(Light Music!) in school uniforms for high school girls visit a former building of Toyosato Elementary School, which is believed to be the model for the school in ''Keion!,'' in the town of Toyosato, Shiga Prefecture, in July 2010. ''Keion!'' (Light Music!) is a TV series featuring a group of high school girls who join a school band and the building recently is attracting hordes of anime fans who make a pilgrimage to the site.

Calculators with 'anime,' 'manga' characters

OSAKA, Japan - Photo shows calculators with designs of popular characters from Japanese animation and comic book series ''Neon Genesis Evangelion'' (L), ''Keion!!'' (C) and ''President Shima Kosaku.'' Sharp Corp. and Bandi Co. said on Feb. 17, 2011, they will begin selling the calculators in March 2011.

'Anime' to promote census

KYOTO, Japan - The Kyoto prefectural government posts an image and audio from the popular TV animation ''Keion!'' (Light Music!) on its website to promote a census to be conducted in the fall of 2010. The local government said on Sept. 3, 2010, it has seen a rapid increase in visitors to the site. (Kyodo)
