KUMAMOTO, Japan - Kimura Kensetsu, a construction company based in Yatsushiro, Kumamoto Prefecture, said Nov. 22 that one of its checks was not honored by its lender on Nov. 21 after it became caught in the media spotlight due to its involvement in building dozens of defective condominiums and hotels. The firm posted a public announcement about the incident at the entrance of its headquarters (shown in photo).

TOKYO, Japan - File photo shows Tokyo Olympics judo gold medalist Isao Inokuma, who was found dead in an apparent suicide at a company he ran in Tokyo, the police said Sept. 29. He was 63. Police said an employee of Tokai Kensetsu (Tokai Construction) found Inokuma collapsed in a pool of blood in his office with stab wounds in his upper body on the night of Sept. 28.
