MT. FUJI, Japan - Kesao Takizawa, head of the Japan Meteorological Agency's weather station atop Mr. Fuji, checks the facility on Oct. 1. The agency pulled out its last employees from the station, automating the facility that had been regularly staffed since 1932. ''I find it hard to leave. But at the same time, I am relieved that our staff members will not have to endure harsh work atop the mountain,'' Takizawa said.
