RECAP: Northern California Flooding Kills One, Triggers Rescues and Evacuations

Heavy rain and repeated atmospheric rivers triggered widespread flooding across Northern California over the weekend, killing one person in Redding and prompting rescues and evacuations across the region. Rising rivers and overflowing creeks inundated communities, stranding vehicles and forcing swift-water rescues. In Placer County, emergency crews rescued a baby in a carrier and nine people after the South Yuba River overtook a home. Flooding also impacted Mendocino and Humboldt counties, where roads turned into rivers of muddy water and animals were left stranded. Authorities urged residents to avoid travel and warned motorists not to cross flooded roadways.

Health workers treat an injured 12-year-old boy at Dhaka Medical College Hospital after the earthquake, in Dhaka, Bangladesh, on 21 November 2025. Despite urgent efforts to save him, doctors later declared the child dead. A powerful earthquake measuring between 5.5 and 5.7 struck Dhaka late Friday morning, sending panic across the city as buildings shook and residents rushed into the streets. According to the Bangladesh Meteorological Department, the shallow quake—with an epicenter in Madhabdi, Narsingdi—caused significant jolts in the capital and surrounding districts. Emergency services reported several structural damages, including a collapsed rooftop railing in Armanitola and a tilted eight-story building in Swamibagh. International reports indicate that at least six people have died and dozens were injured as falling debris and damaged structures triggered chaos.
