A view of the harbour from Yamate

View from the top of Yato Slope. The Hepburn residence with its Japanese-style roof is visible in the centre foreground. Houses line Yato Slope on the left, and the foliage on the right marks French Hill (so called because the French Army was stationed here). The partially visible roof is probably the cleaning shop of Wakizaka Kinjiro who handled all the laundry of the British regiment.==Date:about 1875, Place:Yokohama, Photo:R.
