Photographer recalls memory of 1964 Tokyo Olympics

TOKYO, Japan - Masuo Yamaguchi, president of Sankei Eiga Co. and a sports photographer took part in the filming of "Tokyo Olympiad," a documentary on the 1964 Tokyo Olympics directed by Kon Ichikawa, talks about his memory of the Olympics at his company in Tokyo. He said marathon winner Abebe Bikila of Ethiopia ran some 100 meters outside the National Stadium in the same marathon uniform on the day after his marathon victory at the request of Ichikawa so that the Olympic flame could be filmed along with a running Abebe.
