ABASHIRI, Japan - Hokkaido Railway Co. (JR Hokkaido) on April 14 began commercial operations on a test basis of its Dual-Mode Vehicle -- a minibus with retractable train wheels for use on tracks -- on part of the Semmo Line along the Sea of Okhotsk in Japan's northernmost prefecture.
