Sugiyama, Halard-Decugis reach quarters in U.S. Open doubles

NEW YORK, United States - No. 2 seeded women's doubles players Ai Sugiyama and Julie Halard-Decugis advance to the quarterfinals at the U.S. Open tennis championships after a third-round victory Sept. 4. After being defeated three weeks earlier in Los Angeles by Kazakh Irina Selyutina and partner Tina Krizan of Slovenia, Sugiyama of Japan and her French partner Halard-Decugis gained revenge by eliminating their foes 6-3, 6-3.
