Japan's Funaki 3rd in World Cup meet

KUOPIO, Finland - Japan's Kazuyoshi Funaki finishes third in the season-opening World Cup ski jumping event in Kuopio, Finland, on Nov. 23, 2001 to earn a place on the medals podium for the first time in three seasons. Defending World Cup champion Adam Malysz of Poland edged out Germany's Martin Schmitt to win the event.
