Japan: Osaka Subway Line Suspended After Battery Fire on Train

On Saturday, August 8, a mobile battery caught fire aboard a train stopped at Nakatsu Station on Osaka Metro's Midosuji Line, filling the station with smoke. Passengers were evacuated from the train to the platform, and a station employee put out the fire with an extinguisher. One woman was taken to the hospital, and train service was suspended across the entire line as a safety precaution.
