The annual contest this year saw around 50 first-class traditional Mongolian script writers among over 1,100 participants across the Asian country. The traditional Mongolian script, which is written vertically, was the most widespread until the introduction of the Cyrillic script in the 1940s. In 2020, the Mongolian government announced plans to use the traditional script alongside the Cyrillic script in official documents and legal papers from 2025.
